History

Nautilea represents above all our passion for sailing and Lake Geneva. So intoxicating, navigation takes us into unknown universes with each wind. Always in search of freedom, navigation requires rigor and understanding of nature. Nautilea reflects this passion through the viticulture of Lake Geneva and the elaboration of this wine of exceptional quality.

Winemaking & Oenology

Selected manual harvesting, separation of the grapes from their bunches by vibration in order to obtain well rounded, intact berries. Traditional vatting for 8 days, pumping over and extraction of aromas and tannins with care and delicacy. Exclusive use of exogenous organic and neutral yeasts for fermentation. We have sought to make a fruity and concentrated wine with light tannins. Very precise microfiltration and cold stabilization of the wine at 0°.

Vineyard & Terroir

Imagine a plot of vines, on a hillside with a magnificent view of Lake Geneva, such is the terroir of Nautilea. On the French-Swiss border, these vines exposed to the sun’s rays are the pride of this magnificent region. A vineyard yield of 900 gr/m2 allows a fairly high load of grapes on the vine and thus better smoothes the sometimes pronounced character of this grape variety. The Garanoir is a grape variety imagined and born in Pully in 1970 at the Agroscope research center. It is a true Lemanic grape variety that corresponds perfectly to the climates and viticulture of the Lake Geneva regions. The exposure of the plot favors an optimal ripening of the berries for this rather early variety. Medium height vines in Guyot. Clay and silt soil, grassy soil and slight slope.

Wine serving tips

Nautilea is a fruity wine with a nice roundness. Its tannic structure does not necessarily require decanting. It goes very well with red meats, grilled meats and Italian gastronomy.

Serving temperature 13°-15°.

Wine tasting description

Color : Dark ruby, very intense color

Noise & Aromatics : Nice freshness, aromas of black fruits, blackberries and cherries

Mouth & Flavors : Very fresh and crisp entry. One quickly guesses this tannic structure rather silky and a certain softness. The expression of the aromas in mouth is quite homogeneous, we quickly find the flavors of black fruits. Quite long persistence.
